CENTER FOR DIAGNOSTICS AND THERAPEUTICS
Biomedical research requires interdisciplinary, collaborative teams that can collectively address complex problems and translate discoveries into products that benefit patients. The Center for Diagnostics and Therapeutics aims to develop highly sought and clinically useful diagnostic and therapeutic tools and agents.
Binghe Wang is a Regents’ Professor of Chemistry, a Georgia Research Alliance Eminent Scholar in drug discovery and the director of the Center for Diagnostics and Therapeutics. His work focuses on drug design, drug delivery, fluorescent sensing and new diagnostics, click chemistry, boronic acid chemistry and carbohydrate recognition.
The Center for Diagnostics and Therapeutics is working to make major discoveries and advances toward new approaches of disease diagnosis and treatment. Participants in the Center include faculty members from core academic units such as Chemistry, Biology, Physics and the Neuroscience Institute as well as supporting units and programs such as Computer Sciences, Psychology, Mathematics and Statistics, and Molecular Basis of Disease.
In collaboration with the Center for Biotechnology and Drug Design in the College of Arts & Sciences, the center has strong facilities in NMR, MS, EPR, SPR, microscopy, ICP and optical spectroscopy.
