Alison Alesi, J.D. is the Assistant Vice President of Regulatory Affairs at Georgia State University. Her responsibilities include oversight of the Institutional Review Boards (“IRBs”) to promote the rights, safety, and welfare of human research participants, and oversight of the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (“IACUC”) to ensure the humane care and use of animals in research and teaching. Alison provides compliance guidance and support to faculty, staff, and student researchers and also serves as a voting member of GSU’s IRBs.
Prior to joining Georgia State University, Alison was the Director of Regulatory Compliance for an independent IRB primarily overseeing FDA-regulated biomedical human subjects research. Her professional experience also includes time as a practicing attorney in the field of defense litigation.
Alison received a Juris Doctor from Emory University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Education from the University of Georgia. She is a Certified IRB Professional (“CIP”) and a member of Public Responsibility in Medicine and Research (“PRIM&R”).
